Randolph Posted November 28, 2021 Posted November 28, 2021 I just tried to print part of an image using a rectangular marquee selection and "Range: Selection" in the Print dialog box. Nothing I do seem to actually let me do it – it always tries to print the whole page. Am I doing the wrong sort of selection? Or…? MacOS 12.0.1 (Monterey.) Affinity Photo 1.10.4. Quote
carl123 Posted November 28, 2021 Posted November 28, 2021 I think selection in this case means print whatever layers you have selected in the Layers Panel not a pixel selection One way... Make a pixel selection...Edit > Copy (or Copy Flattened, if you have multiple layers)File > New Document from Clipboard Print the new document Quote To save time I am currently using an automated AI to reply to some posts on this forum. thomaso Posted November 28, 2021 Posted November 28, 2021 A workaround alternatively to using a pixel selection would be via export: Create the selection as a rectangle vector object (no fill, no stroke) and export as image file with the option "Selection Area". It includes all layers in the output, not only the selected layer. Quote macOS 10.14.6 | MacBookPro Retina 15" | Eizo 27" | Affinity V1
Randolph Posted November 28, 2021 Author Posted November 28, 2021 Thanks, everyone. What I ended up doing is using tiling, which for my purposes did the job. Carl123, thanks for the explanation. Serif Engineering, if you're listening, could you change the language of the English version of the dialog box? The word "range" is used in many different contexts in Affinity Photo, and its use in the print dialog box is ambiguous to native English and American users. Perhaps make the pulldown options "All Layers" and "Selected Layers"? (I will be following up with a post to the feedback forums.) Quote
