gnacca Posted November 25, 2021 Posted November 25, 2021 Hello everybody, I bought yesterday Affinity Designer for iPad and working on a file I've done in Affinity Designer for desktop. In this file I have several text boxes with custom fills and strokes and texts on path. In Affinity Designer iPad version I did't find the options for "Text Frame" (see the example pict, it's in italian but it's about "text frame" option in desktop version). Can anyone help me to find it? Thank you. Quote
Staff Lee D Posted November 25, 2021 Staff Posted November 25, 2021 Are you sure it was created in Designer on desktop as the Text Frame panel is from Publisher. That being said the iPad version of Designer will open and display the file with the frame fill and stroke visible but doesn't have the options available to edit. Quote

Yes, see attachment. Now, I closed the panel and I don't remember where I found it. I thought it was in the text option bar... EDIT: I found it. (new attachment) It only appears when you select a text on path made with artistic tex tool. I think it's a "bug" because a text frame need to be edited the same way. 5 hours ago, Lee D said: That being said the iPad version of Designer will open and display the file with the frame fill and stroke visible but doesn't have the options available to edit. That's very disappointing. The iPad app is hard to use and poorly intuitive compared to other vector competitor. Then if there aren't available the basic drawing feature for all element... ☹️ Thank you for your time. Edited November 25, 2021 by gnacca new information to share. Quote

In the last my attachment you can see an highlighted button (desktop version of AD) that opens a control panel named "Cornice di testo" (italian translation for "Text Frame"). It allows to modify fill and stroke colors of a textbox. It's been confirmed in another post it's there by mistake (a bug) and for sure not present in AD iPad version. ☹️ DM1 1 Quote

Hi gnacca, thanks for taking time to clarify the issue. The lack of ability to set text background colour has been requested many times and could easily be fixed but Affinity developers seem not to have any organised system for resolving issues, just a long list of reports that keep getting 'bumped' by mods to developers and 'apparently' ignored. A shame because the Affinity products are very good. Quote M1 IPad Air 10.9/256GB lpadOS 17.1.1 Apple Pencil (2nd gen).
