Blueberrypop Posted November 17, 2021 Posted November 17, 2021 I can’t seem to get my curved text to cut out of a solid colour shape. I’ve followed all the usual steps, convert the font into curves, ungroup the text into individual letters, position the text over the shape. Select all the text and the shape together then in the geometry section click the Subtract or Xor button (I’ve tried both) and every time only some of the text is cut out but there is a clear outline for the letters are still visible when selecting the whole vector. I’ve tried using a less complicated font and even different words but it’s the same result every time. Please help! Quote
firstdefence Posted November 17, 2021 Posted November 17, 2021 Welcome to the forum @Blueberrypop After converting to the text to curves, make sure all the letters are selected and use Layer > Geometry > Merge Curves and then try Geometry: Subtract Blueberrypop 1 Quote iMac 27" 2019 Sequoia 15.0 (24A335), iMac 27" Affinity Designer, Photo & Publisher V1 & V2, Adobe, Inkscape, Vectorstyler, Blender, C4D, Sketchup + more... From the OP’s screenshot it looks as though the ‘R’ didn’t get subtracted. If that is indeed the case I don’t know of an alternative to converting to curves so that the individual elements can be manipulated: selecting the ‘R’ layer with the Node Tool and pressing the ‘Reverse Curves’ button on the Context toolbar should be sufficient to allow it to be subtracted correctly. Blueberrypop Posted November 19, 2021 Author Posted November 19, 2021 Thank you all for your help, I tried everyone’s ideas but they still weren’t working. In a last ditch attempt I made a completely new shape and text and was finally able to achieve the result I wanted!! I guess the shape and text I was using had some how got bugged. (Probably from over duplication.) Alfred 1 Quote
