try ISO/IEC 14496-12

You can read a bit about that here. Note that it is only the basis for a number of more specific file formats. So at best it is a very general standard, & mostly intended for AV media. I have no idea why you mention it here.

RAW is just a generic name for a sensor captured, lossless uncompressed and unprocessed file...

RAW is the generic name for files containing a combination of minimally processed sensor data; many kinds of metadata about the camera model, shooting conditions, the sensor itself, etc.; & usually one or more low resolution images used for previews or thumbnails. These files may deviate from the TIFF standard in several ways. Standardization is, as mentioned here, problematic at best:

Providing a detailed and concise description of the content of raw files is highly problematic. There is no single raw format; formats can be similar or radically different. Different manufacturers use their own proprietary and typically undocumented formats, which are collectively known as raw format. Often they also change the format from one camera model to the next. Several major camera manufacturers, including Nikon, Canon and Sony, encrypt portions of the file in an attempt to prevent third-party tools from accessing them.[14]

I have no further interest in discussing this with you unless you can provide actual sources that support what you say. Some more examples of where my info comes from:

Please note that none of these even suggest there is a single standard that all camera makers use for their proprietary RAW file formats, that much in these formats is not publicly documented anywhere, etc.

So using your much needed references: Many raw file formats, including IIQ (Phase One), 3FR (Hasselblad), DCR, K25, KDC (Kodak), CRW CR2 CR3 (Canon), ERF (Epson), MEF (Mamiya), MOS (Leaf), NEF NRW (Nikon), ORF (Olympus), PEF (Pentax), RW2 (Panasonic) and ARW, SRF, SR2 (Sony), are based on TIFF

ISO 14496 coding of audio-visual objects, base media file: Yes, believe it or not a stills camera is a visual product and comes under the ISO standard base file format.

Since you generally rely upon Wiki as your knowledge base try this https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Design_rule_for_Camera_File_system

As you say, I've discussed this enough and really can't be bothered anymore, all I wanted is Affinity to work as it should out of the box with RAW images

Nobody claimed RAW formats are not based on TIFF, least of all me. But that has almost nothing to do with all the different ways sensor data can be encoded in RAW files, the difficulty of processing encrypted metadata that in part determines how the sensor data should be processed ("developed") into a usable raster image, & so on.

Likewise, DCF just defines a file system format, but nothing specific about how RAW data in it should be processed. Same for ISO 14496.

The bottom line is there is no single standard that can somehow automagically be applied to all RAW files to specify exactly how the data & metadata in them should be processed into a usable raster image. If you expect AP to work 'out of the box' with all of them, you will be disappointed & should instead be considering using a different product that supports more cameras & is more frequently updated as new models are introduced.

If you search this forum you will find many suggestions about the alternatives, some better than others but they will not all produce identical results because there is no one standard for this, period.
