Hi Patipan

This is an issue we're aware of and happens when you attempt to edit an embedded object instead an existing document and the app is then forced to return to the document selection screen whilst you were in the embedded document. This can happen in the following two ways that we're aware of (see below).

Unfortunately this does render the document inaccessible. However you could try using a utility called 'iMazing' to gain access to the Autosave folder within our actual app. This has been outlined by Gabe here. The iMazing website does appear to list a Windows version but I haven't used this. I did try it on my Mac and I was able to access one of the files that was affected by my receipe below.

Method 1 - Cmd+W to close using Keyboard Cover

  1. Start a new document
  2. Document > Place Image > From Cloud and select an AFdesign file
  3. Drag to place the file
  4. Double tap to edit it
  5. make a change and then press Cmd+W on the keyboard
    •  Document is returned to the home screen
  6. Tap the document to open it
    •  Document will no longer open

Method 2 - Autosave and App Quit

  1. Ensure Autosave is set to 30s (makes it quicker to reproduce)
  2. Start a new document
  3. Document > Place Image > From Cloud and select an AFdesign file
  4. Drag to place the file
  5. Double tap to edit it
  6. make some changes and give it enough time for Autosave to have kicked in
  7. Access the app screen (drag up from the bottom slowly on a home button-less iPad) and swipe up to close Designer
  8. Reopen Designer and try to open the document
    •  Document will fail to load.

Hi,

what should I do if I don't have the AFdesign file of the project that isn't opening?

As Sean suggested in his reply:

Same issue here,

Quite a lot of work that seems to be lost. I Imported a psd template into the file before it crasheds

Any solution?

There has been no notification of a fix for this bug so best to assume it still exists. The best solution is to always Save your projects outside of Photo (as .afphoto files). Then you can always access a copy/backup if something goes wrong. Storing your work in the Apps Sandbox (without Saving), is a recipe for disaster as many have found out.

Hi,

This bug is still around. I have no access to desktop and I can’t recover the lost file corrections (over an hour of work); which is not a big deal.
