Failix Posted August 16, 2021 Posted August 16, 2021 Hi all, when I use a custom page template in Publisher (1.10.0.1127 / Win 10), I can temporarily change the settings for a new document, e.g. the page number. Unfortunately, the currently used page number is then taken over into the preset and affects the next new document, which I think is a big bug. A preset is a preset - without saving it again, the page settings cannot be changed permanently, or do you see it differently? Regards, Felix Quote
walt.farrell Posted August 16, 2021 Posted August 16, 2021 Did you actually click on the Preset again when you used File> New the next time? Or did you let the application use your last settings? I think you will find you're just seeing it remember your last settings, and it has not actually changed the Preset. I think you just need to click the Preset name in the list of Presets if you want to reset the dialog to the original settings from that Preset. Failix Posted August 16, 2021 Author Posted August 16, 2021 No, unfortunately there is nothing to be done. All other settings of the preset remain the same, only the page number changes - for all presets. It really shouldn't be like that ... Quote
Dan C Posted August 16, 2021 Posted August 16, 2021 I can confirm that Publisher does not save the 'Number of Pages' with page presets - Page Presets are exactly that, a preset size and settings (such as colour format, margins etc) used for creating a new document of unspecified length. When selecting custom Presets, or built-in presets, the previous value used for 'Number of Pages' will be retained, this is by design. If you require a 'preset' document that is a specific size, colour profile and page length, then you should use Document Templates for this, as you can save how many pages are required for these 'presets'. I hope this clears things up Quote
Failix Posted August 16, 2021 Author Posted August 16, 2021 Thank you, now I know! But I don't find that good, rather confusing. And it has also confused me ... Quote
