findcal Posted August 14, 2021 Posted August 14, 2021 Trying to apply alternating different master pages. The middle section of my book includes 2 forms, A and B, each on one spread. So page 9 - 10 is form A and page 11-12 is form B. First question is, is there a simple way to apply this alternating sequence to 80 pages? Second question, best way to have continuous page numbers? If I add a page field to both Master A and B, will they be continuous? Really appreciate the help. Quote
Komatös Posted August 15, 2021 Posted August 15, 2021 If you click with the right mouse button on the master pages, you get a pull-down menu. Here you have various possibilities to apply the master pages to the document pages. I do not have a quicker solution. And yes, the page numbers are continued. One of those options is to apply the master to specified pages but that means entering each page number or page number pair in the specified pages field. The field accepts comma separated numbers & ranges specified with a dash (like "9-15"). So if you have some other app like a spreadsheet or similar, you might be able to use that to generate a pair of number lists to copy & paste into the APub field. Or: Go to the Pages panel, and scroll to the first spread that needs a particular Master. Click in the middle of the spread icon, such that both halves are selected and there's a blue highlight around the complete spread. Scroll to the next spread that needs that Master. Ctrl+Click (Windows, probably Cmd+Click on Mac) in the middle of the spread, so that spread gets the blue highlight around it completely. Because you held Ctrl (Cmd) you now have two spreads selected. Repeat 3 for all the spreads that need that Master. Right-click on one of the selected spreads, and choose Apply Master. The dialog will have all your selected spreads pre-filled-in in the Selected Pages/Spreads box. I suspect it might be less work (& maybe less prone to error?) to generate the pair of spread page number sequences in another app & paste that into the selected pages field, but your alternative should work fine too.
