I selected and copied a pixel layer, when I paste it the object/rotate resize box (picker tool selected) is much larger than the visual pixels it contains. How to I trim the or resize the object box without resizing the contents.

help appreciated

I am going to assume the picker tool is the Move tool

I think you may have some transparency in the selection, it would not necessarily show up in the marquee (marching ants) of the selection. here is an extreme example, I had a feather setting of 120 pixels for the marquee tool.

If you used one of the other selection methods then you will have different results. Check the Feather and anti alias settings for the selection tools and methods that you are using.

Thanx “Mind if I call you Bruce” that could be, as I cant check (ooops maybe I can in history) can I get rid of transparent pixels once they are included? Maybe select opaque on the layer copy and paste! Any more direct way?

Why do you need to trim the pixels?

If I were wanting the selection to be exactly the pixels in a 1 in square area I would make a 1 inch square rectangle and clip the pixel layer with that

Fully transparent pixels should not be part of your copied pixel layer. It is the partially transparent ones that you might want to get rid of. If you are using AP (are you?) then you can try selecting the copied layer & from the Select > Alpha Range submenu choose Select Partially Transparent, then from the Layer menu choose Delete.

This should remove all the partially transparent pixels from the layer ... but for reasons unknown it does not always work.
