Where did you purchase Affinity Photo (Serif Affinity Store, or from Microsoft), @Ghillie?

I would think that is a question for the Ashampoo Photo Commander 16 . How to use a specific application to open the photos I have chosen in Commander...

Mac Pro (Late 2013) Mac OS 12.7.6
Affinity Designer 2.5.7 | Affinity Photo 2.5.7 | Affinity Publisher 2.5.7 | Beta versions as they appear.

I have never mastered color management, period, so I cannot help with that.

In Ashampoo Commander:

  1. Right-click on your image to bring up the menu.
  2. Scroll down to Open with External Program
  3. When you hover your mouse over it a fly-out menu will appear
  4. Select Add Program
  5. A navigation dialog window will appear. To the right of the top box (Path), click on the Folders Icon. It will open a Explorer(Windows) window. Navigate to where you have Affinity Photo installed and select Photo.exe.
  6. Click the OK button.

When you want to edit a photo just right-click for the menu and select Affinity Photo in the menu.

Just a note, these sort of hand-off's to external editors are generally setup in the app that you want to take your photo from, in your case it's Ashampoo, and not the app your sending it to, Affinity Photo.

Affinity Photo 2.5..; Affinity Designer 2.5..; Affinity Publisher 2.5..; Affinity2 Beta versions. Affinity Photo,Designer 1.10.6.1605 Win10 Home Version:21H2, Build: 19044.1766: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-5820K CPU @ 3.30GHz, 3301 Mhz, 6 Core(s), 12 Logical Processor(s);32GB Ram, Nvidia GTX 3070, 3-Internal HDD (1 Crucial MX5000 1TB, 1-Crucial MX5000 500GB, 1-WD 1 TB), 4 External HDD

I bought Affinity Photo direct from Serif who manufacture it.

Good choice, as it would have been difficult to set up that function if you'd purchased via Microsoft.
