Just wondering what actual use this feature is if I then can't apply the node tool to objects within the group I'm isolating?

According to the official Affinity help pages I just hold down Alt and click on whatever it is I want to isolate, which includes Groups. But then when I select the node tool 1. it still won't let me select individual curve by clicking on them on the artboard or dragging (a previous issue I've had) but also 2. if I then try to select the object within the layers panel it just un-isolates everything!

Yet again I find more limits to the functionality of this software.

If anyone knows of a way to actually use the isolation mode in Groups then get in touch..

Isolation seems to work with pixel layers / tools only. Any attempt to select something will automatically end isolation mode.

Its main purpose (and answer to your question) is to temporarily focus on the isolated layers, making everything else invisible. So nothing in combination with curves.

A second purpose is to edit pixel layers (with restricted tools available).

There are other areas in Photo where the set of usable tools becomes limited, e.g. masks and quick masks (where quick masks are selections and no masks at all).

Others with more knowledge feel free to correct where I’m wrong.

For me it works for groups, shapes, pixel layers, image layers, etc.

However, to isolate one layer in a group, I need to first open the group so I can select only it & then alt/option clicking on it in the Layers panel hides everything else.

(Tested only briefly with AD 1.9.3 for Mac, but I assume it is the same for the other two Mac apps.)

Bonsoir,
Lorsqu'on converti une forme en tracé cette action quitte le mode isolation. Il faut cliquer à nouveau sur le calque pour l'isoler et modifier les nœuds (par exemple).

Good evening,
When you convert a shape into a path this action leaves the isolation mode. You have to click again on the layer to isolate it and modify the nodes (for example).

Toujours pas !
