1.10.0.244 still locks up and loses content with Fill Bucket

Recommended Posts

As every release since 1.9, using the Fill Bucket (for example Tolerance 6%, Contiguous off, blend mode normal, Current Layer) to fill all the pixels matching the color of the area you are changing, will randomly lock the UI thread entirely (paint bucket freeze), then often leave the layer missing much of the content, or even random bits from memory. I can undo the mess and do it a second time, which generally works. This did not happen prior to 1.9, and still exists in the new beta. It is not predictable but happen to me fairly often. AP currently shows 13GB in activity monitor.

I can't tell if this is a low memory situation, or something simply random.

Hey Florida,

I have a late 2015 iMac which is a slightly lower spec than yours and I've managed to open 5x 24MP raw images and essentially fill them all in with the Flood Fill Tool without a hitch. I'm not entirely sure what's going wrong for you.

What size image are you working with?

Images are from 4500x4500 to 9000x9000 generally.

It could be video card related memory handling. The 5k is quite different from previously models.

It seems to only happen after using the app for a while, the memory goes up a lot and eventually it starts misbehaving, it doesn't seem to be any particular document. Generally now I only work with the app for short while, save, then restart. Then it's all fine again. It seems as if image buffers are being deallocated incorrectly when the app is having memory pressure.
