misterdaz Posted May 26, 2021 Posted May 26, 2021 Hi, first of all I have searched the FAQs and I have indeed found someone else had a similar issue but none of the solutions have worked for me. This evening my Apple Pencil will not draw on any layer with any brush tool in the document I am working on, my finger does not work for drawing either. I can select all menu items with the pen, choose colours or layers etc but it has stopped drawing. If I create a new document it works so it must be a setting in the doc I’m working on. Protect Alpha is off, my opacity is up high enough and the layer is not locked. All I get when I tap the screen is the circle which denotes the size of the brush which is set large enough to see. Please can someone advise me what to try? Many thanks, Daz. Quote

You may have a selection active, even if you cannot see any marching ants, try a single finger press on the screen, a pop up menu should appear and tap DESELECT if it appears. Alternatively in Selections Persona, try Commands->Deselect. misterdaz Posted May 27, 2021 Author Posted May 27, 2021 Hi I checked what Paul Mudditt has suggested as I remembered I did try to select the layer I was working on to shrink the content down. Happy to say he was correct, I went into the selection persona on the layer I was working on hit command menu deselect. I went back to the photo persona and happy to say the brush is now working. Paul, appreciate the help! To DM1 I have included the file anyway incase it helps for future queries? Maybe a fix is needed to make users aware they have a selection live? Like the marching ants? Thanks again. Untitled.afphoto DM1 and Paul Mudditt 2 Quote

misterdaz Posted May 27, 2021 Author Posted May 27, 2021 Thanks DM1, not an easy one to spot that but at least it's user error and not a program bug. I know what to look for next time. Thanks again to you both. Paul Mudditt 1 Quote
Charles Jenkins Posted May 27, 2021 Posted May 27, 2021 I'm glad your problem is solved! In case it helps others having problems and looking at this thread: The Apple Pencil will stop working altogether, and be able to select from menus, if its battery runs down. You'll be working in AD as normal, then suddenly the Pencil just stops registering. Check the charge on the Pencil to see if this is the problem. Aspects of the Layers Studio will stop working normally if you are in the Export Persona. If you have selected a layer, but things don't work as you expect, check which Persona you're in. The problem may not have anything at all to do with the Pencil! Quote
