tonyt Posted October 23, 2015 Posted October 23, 2015 Hi I take loads of pics in portrait and shoot in .dng. When I open a .dng in Develop, it is always landscape. How do I rotate it so that it is portrait and I can see clearly the results of develop settings. Also, if I develop a .dng, does the original file stay untouched as long as I save it with a different name from Photo Persona? Cheers..... Quote
Staff Callum Posted October 23, 2015 Staff Posted October 23, 2015 Hi Tonyt, To rotate a document you can go to Document at the top left of the app and then choose one of the Rotation options at the bottom of the drop down menu. Affinity Photo won't overwrite any original files if they are saved with a different name :) I hope this helps :) C Quote Please tag me using @ in your reply so I can be sure to respond ASAP.
anon1 Posted October 23, 2015 Posted October 23, 2015 Currently the only way to do it is to rotate your screen. I think some of the Samsung screens can do this. Or you can first develope it without any changes, then rotate it and then go back into the develope persona. I think it has to stay untouched because the current affinity photo can't export to DNG and it can't store these sort of side car files as well so your DNG will be safe ;) Quote
tonyt Posted October 23, 2015 Author Posted October 23, 2015 I think you are right MBd, there seems to be no 'Document' drop down in Develop Persona, only in Photo Persona. I am a little surprised there is no support for .dng as I thought it was a standard raw format. Thanks for the help both..... Quote
anon1 Posted October 23, 2015 Posted October 23, 2015 I think it was possible in the past but there was some weird bug so it's not there anymore but will be added at some point. It's requested every couple days or weeks by someone. Someday there will be an affinity DAM (news are announced for 2016 - only 70 days ahead) and then we'll hopefully have awesome DNG support ;) Quote
anon1 Posted October 23, 2015 Posted October 23, 2015 Ah and I've seen your other post for DNG support I guess DNG is supported - it opens, right? That's what supported means in the case of raw format and DNG it's just a special (or not special at all) raw format...? Quote
tonyt Posted October 23, 2015 Author Posted October 23, 2015 By support I meant so a .dng portrait pic opens in portrait.... To me support means the image file is treated like any other format. Thanks Quote
anon1 Posted October 24, 2015 Posted October 24, 2015 Well this is not a DNG thing - it's the develope persona in general that does not have the rotate function Quote
tonyt Posted October 24, 2015 Author Posted October 24, 2015 I see, let's hope it does soon, and thanks again. anon1 1 Quote
dvoth Posted December 9, 2015 Posted December 9, 2015 With the 1.4 update portrait images still opens landscape. I see there are rotation controls in the develop persona now, however, one can't rotate 90 degrees at once. My camera takes RAW pictures in DNG format and so it would be great if the pictures would open the correct orientation. dvoth Posted September 27, 2016 Posted September 27, 2016 I noticed that this still occurs and found an issue as well when doing a panorama. The resulting image was the wrong orientation. I rotated, but when I exported it to a JPEG it was rotated back again. Affinity Photo 1.4.3. Quote David Voth Affinity Photo, Designer and Publisher ver. 2: macOS Sequoia and iPadOS 18
