What app/OS? I can't confirm the issue on my system (AP, Win 10). Elliptical marquee tool works as intended here.

Check the Feather: setting in the context toolbar, it sometimes inexplicably jumps to 1024.

To save time I am currently using an automated AI to reply to some posts on this forum. If any of "my" posts are wrong or appear to be total b*ll*cks they are the ones generated by the AI. If correct they were probably mine. I apologise for any mistakes made by my AI - I'm sure it will improve with time.

I haven't seen that on Mac yet.

Even then, the selection still exists, you just won't see the marching ants if e.g. the initial circle selection is smaller than 800-something px. The marching ants appear only if the opacity > 50% or something like that.
But you can see the actual dimensions of the feathered selection in the Transform panel.
