randomjames
I'm a bit confounded on what should be a pretty basic function. I can't figure out how to modify / transform a layer but not affect the mask. For example, I'm using a mask to crop a section of a photo. I like where the mask is but the position of the photo needs to be adjusted. How to I move / resizes the image but maintain the position / size of the mask? Thanks! TrailwayCo
If I'm understanding your question right, all you have to do is double click on the image within the mask & it should highlight the image. Then you can resize that or do whatever you want with it. Is that what you were looking for? - QUYLT
dloewen4
I'm having this issue as well, and double clicking it doesn't work. You can only move the mask, not the mask contents. In Photoshop you would unlink the layer and simply use the move tool. IMO this is a big deal when working with masks.
A_B_C
Hey guys, I am assuming you are talking about the situation shown in my first screen shot below: a mask nested to a pixel layer. Currently the only way to resize the pixel layer (“Background” in my example) independently of the mask is (a.) to un-nest the mask layer, (b.) to resize the pixel layer, and (c.) re-nest the mask layer to the pixel layer. But the latest Beta has an option to lock the children of a layer for independent resizing (see my video below). You can get the Beta here: https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/topic/13781-affinity-photo-customer-beta-1354/ Hope that helps … :) Alex Lock_Children.mov dloewen4
