I am looking for a way to prepend/append symbols that are vertically aligned with the text. I attach an example - I would like to add crosses to headings.

I can just put them manually and it works if the heading is single line

+ Introduction +

But when it's multi line

+ Multi line
heading +

I would like both crosses to be centered vertically (and the text itself would be centered horizontally).

Is that possible in the text box tool?

Hi Gryszczy,

Unfortunately I don't think this is possible in the Affinity suite currently.

Thanks

Could you use a one row, three column table, with the text in the centre and the crosses each side?

For simple headings you could both symbols on the top line, select them & just use a negative baseline shift.
