Processing Nikon D3400 NEF files (Photo, Windows 7) (Split)

Recommended Posts

Hi, I have Nikon D3400 and shoot Raw&JPG , I'm currently  using the 90 day trial version of affinity before i buy. Every time I try to open a  raw file it says unsupported. I am using MS  Windows 7. It will open the .JPG but I want to edit in raw.  Is this a known issue and Is there a solution? Many thanks Dave

Welcome to the Serif Affinity forums, @Dubsy.

I'm  not sure what's going on; the Nikon D3400 is on the supported cameras list.

Can you provide one of your files, so we (users or Serif staff) can check it.

It should usually work right out of the box in APh, since the Nikon D3400 RAWs are long time supported. - It's probably more related to some Windows 7 problems here. Do other common Affinity Photo things (beside the D3400 RAW processing) work with your Win7 installment?

On a Mac there's no problem with loading and developing that D3400 RAW file ...

Hi Walt,

Thanks,  I think its solved, i only had about 3 GB of Ram available , This morning my ram upgrade arrived in the post ( 8GB ) so added this and tried just a few mins ago and  it now opened straight away !!  Phew.  So hopefully that has resolved  the issue.   I am sure i will be back on the forum  with new questions as this is my 1st time at using RAW and any photo edit software.   I have yet to discover once i edit how i save etc and it what format, i tend to use my wildlife images just for sharing  with friends on social media, so any help would be most gratefully received .

Thanks Dave
