HarleySalas
New user to Affinity here and quite honestly, It's been testing my patience and sort of beginning to wonder if it's worth my time. Currently trying to do a simple subtract and for whatever reason, it doesn't seem to work. Saw a tutorial video from Affinity, as well as other creators on youtube and I'm doing the exact same thing they're doing. Can anyone tell me what I'm missing? I just can't imagine why it won't work. walt.farrell
Welcome to the Serif Affinity Forums. Check the Fill Mode of the larger (lower) shape, Layer > Fill Mode. You may find it is set to Winding (Non-Zero) rather than Alternate (Even-Odd). If so, change it. Or, change the Fill Mode of the result. euronesia 1 Quote -- Walt Designer, Photo, and Publisher V1 and V2 at latest retail and beta releases PC: Desktop: Windows 11 Pro 23H2, 64GB memory, AMD Ryzen 9 5900 12-Core @ 3.00 GHz, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3090 Laptop: Windows 11 Pro 23H2, 32GB memory, Intel Core i7-10750H @ 2.60GHz, Intel UHD Graphics Comet Lake GT2 and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 Laptop GPU. Larissa1988
I'm having the same problem, but if I change the fill mode it creates more problems since I have a complex shape with overlapping parts. What I can I do to fix this? I want to cut out the shape in the white circle from the main tree shape. Right now this is the result I get when I try subtracting the shape. However, when I change the fill mode (which does let me cut out the shape) this happens to all my branches which I want to avoid. I tried to cut out the shape with the fill mode changed and then change it back to fix the branches, but it was back to the same results as before. Any advice on what to do? PixelPest
Have you tried to Reverse Curve the small part beforehand? Normally Layer->Geometry->Merge Curves is all it takes. Larissa1988
