ColinG Posted September 14, 2020 Posted September 14, 2020 Have installed Topaz Studio 2 and it loads ok from AP. However it asks if I want to update yet it is the most recent Topaz version! Also there are no looks/presets available from within AP. Any ideas? Thanks Colin Quote
Staff MEB Posted September 14, 2020 Staff Posted September 14, 2020 Hi ColinG, Go to menu Affinity Photo ▸ Preferences, Photoshop Plugins section, then press the Authorise Global button on the bottom right then Authorise button again from the dialog that will open. Does it fix the issue? Quote A Guide to Learning Affinity Software
ColinG Posted September 14, 2020 Author Posted September 14, 2020 Hi MEB, The Authorise Global button is not available - it is greyed out. Quote
Staff MEB Posted September 14, 2020 Staff Posted September 14, 2020 If it's greyed out it's because it was enabled already. Assuming you gave access to the whole disk you should see a forward slash "/" in the first line in the Plugin Support Folders section. Let me check/test Topaz Studio 2 here to see if it's behaving the same way. Quote A Guide to Learning Affinity Software
applewoodj Posted September 14, 2020 Posted September 14, 2020 I can also access Topaz studio 2 and use a few of the controls (some don't seem to work), but all the presets are empty. If I open it as a standalone, all the presets are there. MEB and Silvia 1 1 Quote

Staff MEB Posted September 18, 2020 Staff Posted September 18, 2020 Hi ColinG, I'm sorry for the delay getting back to you. The plugin is behaving this way due to the sandbox restrictions on macOS (Mac App Store apps). It works correctly with non-MAS versions (including the Betas). Maybe it's worth contacting Topaz Labs and let them know about it. Quote A Guide to Learning Affinity Software
ColinG Posted September 18, 2020 Author Posted September 18, 2020 I will tell Topaz but is it worth uninstalling what I have and downloading an install direct from Affinity? Thanks for your help Colin Quote
Staff MEB Posted September 18, 2020 Staff Posted September 18, 2020 Hi Colin, That's really up to you. Some plugins do work with the Mac App Store version without issues unfortunately Topaz Studio doesn't. The version from our website do not display the erratic update dialogs and loads/displays the presets (Filters/Looks) as it should. I've also called other Topaz plugins from within Studio 2 running as a plugin in Affinity Photo (Adjust AI and Sharpen Ai) without issues. I haven't tested it extensively (and not yet on Big Sur which i hope to do this weekend) but from what i'm seeing seems there's no major issues. Quote A Guide to Learning Affinity Software
ColinG Posted September 18, 2020 Author Posted September 18, 2020 That's what I'll do then. Is there an issue re serial numbers though? I have told Topaz. Quote
Staff MEB Posted September 18, 2020 Staff Posted September 18, 2020 Hi Colin, The Mac App Store is managed by Apple themselves - we have no control over the apps sold there. Their apps also don't require serial numbers (the app is associated with customer's Apple ID). The only thing i can suggest is to contact Apple support directly, request a refund explaining the reason why you aren't happy with the purchase and buy it again through our website.
