X-Rite Color Checker

Recommended Posts

Please add support for the X-rite color checker. This is a tool used by thousands and a feature that would surly entice others to use your product. As it stands now I know many photographers who are paying for Photoshop and Lightroom that will not switch solely do to the lack of support for color grading using these tools. Your product is even teamed with X-Rite to get a license to your software when one of there products is purchased. I made the switch to AP and loved your interface however I sadly cannot recommend others switch without support for such a basic feature.

@PatrickCM

What do you mean Affinity Photo is not supported?

Affinity Photo is not a frontend for the calibration software. However, APhoto can use the colour profile created by X-Rite Hardware.

Because on the z-rite web page three other apps, such as LightRoom are specifically mentioned but not Affinity. My question is clear. But never mind. I'll look elsewhere.

2 years late to the game here, but in one of the Nikon forums, it was recommended that I calibrate my camera, using this product.

As far as I can tell, Affinity Photo is not supported. Is there an alternative?

Hi @PatrickCM, the Affinity apps will perform document to display colour management using bespoke display profiles that are created with X-Rite measurement devices (e.g. i1Display Pro), which is a large part of ensuring colour accuracy, but they don't currently support custom camera profiles that are created by photographing and referencing the colour checker passport. I'm not sure which applications explicitly have support, but I suspect apps focused heavily on batch photographic development will have it (such as DxO).

You can use the white balance portion of the colour checker passport however, as Affinity Photo's Develop Persona has a white balance tool that you can use to sample from an image with the passport in shot.

Hope the above helps!
