Guyon
Both infinity Photo & Designer 1.8.4.693 work fine until I try and draw a line with my XP-Pen Drawing monitor. I get strange lines automatically being drawn all over the screen and memory usage skyrockets. This version is unusable. All other of my drawing programs work fine as well as older versions of Photo and Designer.
Staff Gabe Posted August 17, 2020 Staff Share Posted August 17, 2020 Hi @Guyon, Try this please: https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/topic/121563-faq-enable-legacy-windows-tablet-input/ Or you can try the latest beta, which does not need the above workaround:
Guyon
It seems like the beta cleared up the issue
SPaceBar
Hi @Guyon I'm glad it seems to be working better for you in 1.8.5.703. We'd like to take a look at what is happening. So could I ask you to upload your log file please? These are the steps to get the additional logging information and locate the Log.txt file for 1.8.5.703: Locate your Designer.exe in Program Files > Affinity > Designer Customer Beta Create a shortcut on your desktop > Right click the shortcut Select Properties > Shortcut tab > In the Target box after Designer.exe" leave a space and type --input-logging > Click OK You can then launch the new shortcut and draw some lines as above > Save your document > Close the app You will find the Log.txt file in the following place: AppData\Roaming\Affinity\Designer\1.0 (Beta) If you have any issues let me know. Guyon
@SPaceBar To be clear you want me to do this with the new Customer Beta\Designer.exe\ that works not the old one that was crashing (1.8.4.693 ). SPaceBar
That's correct Guyon. It will only work on 1.8.5.703. Thanks for sharing your log. 👍
SPaceBar
@Guyon Could you change the Tablet Input Method to High Precision and try again for us please? Open the shortcut we made for Designer Beta 1.8.5.703 Select Edit > Preferences > Under Tablet Input Method - choose High Precision > Select Close Draw some lines as above > Save your document > Close the app Then look for the Log.txt file as before: AppData\Roaming\Affinity\Designer\1.0 (Beta)

SPaceBar
Thanks Guyon, Did you change the Tablet Input Method on the Beta shortcut that we made earlier? I can't see the extra logging at the bottom. Or did you perhaps not copy all of the log?
Guyon
Tablet Input Method ? I changed the controller to pressure, but perhaps because the program locks up I can not do the save, you requested. If the lack of saving is not the case I can try again. But if I draw to many lines it will crash my machine.
SPaceBar
No problem, if the app isn't responding it won't be able to update the log. I just wanted tone sure it was that. Thanks for helping out, it's much appreciated. 👍

SPaceBar
Thanks for the update @Guyon That's great news, does that include High Precision mode too? 👍
Guyon
@SPaceBar High Precision mode got the same strange lines as before, but it did not crash so here is the log: *note this is from my Affinity Photo but I expect the results will be the same for Designer. Sorry for got the --input-logging
SPaceBar
Thanks for checking @Guyon Are you able to create a new shortcut with the extra logging for Photo using the instructions I gave you previously? That would give us the additional information at the bottom of the log. These are the steps to get the additional logging information and locate the Log.txt file for 1.8.5.703: Locate your Photo.exe in Program Files > Affinity > Affinity Photo Create a shortcut on your desktop > Right click the shortcut Select Properties > Shortcut tab > In the Target box after Photo.exe" leave a space and type --input-logging > Click OK You can then launch the new shortcut and draw some lines as above > Save your document > Close the app You will find the Log.txt file in the following place: AppData\Roaming\Affinity\Photo\1.
Guyon
@SPaceBar So AfftiyPhoto 1.8.5 runs great with my my XP-Pen Monitor in low precision. But once I change to high precision is where the same issue occurs. Here is the log as you requested.
