Clive of Wales
I may need conformation that Affinity Photo is the wrong persona for my request (below), and it may only be possible with the Designer persona. This could be a vector brush feature. Having moved from Photoshop, I am used to being able to have a real world sketching experience with a basic brush, just as one would expect from freehand sketching with ink or pencil on a sheet pf paper. As far as I can see Affinity Photo doesn't have vector brushes, only raster. (Maybe I don't need vector?). But to achieve what I'm describing, all my brushed are pixelated. Even if I select as softer brush. A-Photo is pretty much what I want, but occasionally I need to hand sketch over the top. If it can be done in this persona (Photo) please someone point me to the settings I will need. OR, tell me what I'm trying to do is only possible in A- Designer... and I'll have to get that. I realize that Designer is supposed to emulate Adobe Illustrator, but what I am trying to get from my brush was very possible with Photoshop settings. If my query isn't clear, but you are able to assist ask me to elaborate more and upload some images to clarify further my point and I'd be only to pleased to receive your help. Kindest regards Clive
Staff Callum Posted August 17, 2020 Staff Share Posted August 17, 2020 Hi Clive, Welcome to the forums If you want really sharp brushes that aren't pixelated you likely would be better off using the vector brushes found in Designer. I would recommend that you download the free trial just to double check that it fits your workflow first however. Thanks C Quote Please tag me using @ in your reply so I can be sure to respond ASAP. Thanks C Maybe you also should mention, which of the "vector" brushes are really vector brushes. Otherwise the OP might get frustrated over noticing his strokes still being pixelated as almost all of the vector brushes in Affinity's apps are in fact pixel brushes on a vector path.
