james948 Posted July 12, 2020 Posted July 12, 2020 Any ideas why this is? I can't work it out. Affinity_Help.mov Quote
Staff MEB Posted July 13, 2020 Staff Posted July 13, 2020 Hi james948, Welcome to Affinity Forums That's a bug. Do you mind attaching the afdesign file as well please? I can provide an upload link if you wish to keep the file private - just let me know. Thread moved to Designer Bugs found on MacOS section. Quote A Guide to Learning Affinity Software
Staff MEB Posted July 13, 2020 Staff Posted July 13, 2020 Thanks for the file. Issue logged to be looked at. Quote A Guide to Learning Affinity Software
james948 Posted July 13, 2020 Author Posted July 13, 2020 Damn, I was really hoping it wasn't a bug; just a setting that was messed up my end. Can you replicate it your end? It's a fairly large bug to have gone unnoticed so I'm wondering whether I should make a new user account on my mac and try it again. I am on a deadline. Quote
james948 Posted July 13, 2020 Author Posted July 13, 2020 Seems like it may be an old bug/issue? Quote
Staff MEB Posted July 13, 2020 Staff Posted July 13, 2020 This is caused by the Rasterise to Nothing setting you have set up. Quote A Guide to Learning Affinity Software
james948 Posted July 13, 2020 Author Posted July 13, 2020 Just now, MEB said: This is caused by the Rasterise to Nothing setting. Is it not possible to export as a pdf while keeping a clipping mask as a vector? Quote
Staff MEB Posted July 13, 2020 Staff Posted July 13, 2020 I'm afraid currently not but why don't you use the group directly with the colour you want (without the red rectangle)? Quote A Guide to Learning Affinity Software
james948 Posted July 13, 2020 Author Posted July 13, 2020 Because I'm using symbols to change multiple colours at once and demo them. This is really frustrating; shouldn't there be an alert on export to tell me it isn't possible? Or perhaps Raster: nothing should be greyed out when you have a clipping mask? I discovered the issue half way through the project but ploughed on because I assumed it must be a bug. Is this a feature you're going to add? Do you know any work arounds? Can we move this out of the bug report section so I can get some advice from other people in the community? Thanks. Quote

(The project I uploaded isn't the real full project which has about a hundred of these cards and about 25 symbols with different colours etc. Happy to upload the full one if you can advise a better way to achieve what I want to (changing a colour in one place and having changes cascade to all other cards which use the same colour) Quote
Staff MEB Posted July 13, 2020 Staff Posted July 13, 2020 I didn't know this wasn't working until now. I understand your issue. Let me see if/what's already logged and check this with a little more time. Quote A Guide to Learning Affinity Software
james948 Posted July 13, 2020 Author Posted July 13, 2020 Thanks. happy to upload the main project; it's very possible there's an easier way of achieving what I want. Quote

Exactly what I was after. I do think this is still a glaring problem though (Masking & exporting to PDF without raster) if Affinity could take a look. Quote
h0wi3 Posted July 23, 2022 Posted July 23, 2022 Is this still an ongoing issue? I am struggling to export even with global colours? Quote
kristiand Posted March 14 Posted March 14 Hi, I had the same issue and couldn't get the mask to be exported correctly. After testing all of the different PDF formats I found out that if you select the PDF/X-4 format, it works flawlessly. Btw, for the option "Rasterisation" select "Unsupported ..." and it will work. Cheers! Quote
