Mystic Shadow
Hi! I like Affinity Photo but I have one question. I have some photo in .CR2 and i want to export in Jpg or Png. When I export, i note that the colours are a bit different. With other software i don't have this problem. where am I wrong ? Thank you!
Staff Callum Posted August 7, 2015 Staff Share Posted August 7, 2015 Hi Mystic Shadow, Welcome to the forums! Please could you attach the RAW file that you are having this issue with and one of the JPGS you have exported so that I may investigate this further. C Please tag me using @ in your reply so I can be sure to respond ASAP.

When I export, i note that the colours are a bit different. With other software i don't have this problem. where am I wrong ? Thank you! This is of some interest to me since I use a Canon and am processing CR2 files frequently. Could you attach some screen shots to show what differences you are referring to? And are you talking about differences between the original raw and the export file or between the adjusted image and the exported file?

I try to attach 2 screenshots. I am not a professional user and i think there is a problem with my settings. In export persona i select "embed icc profile" and i also try with only use document profile. When i re-open the exported file with affinity, the software said to me that is undefined profile. I try also to export with other software (like pixelmator) but this problem there isn't. Thank you!
billtils
A slightly different question: The OP is using the Export Persona - something that I have never used (no reason, just haven't). Are there any differences in what or how the Persona functions compared to File > Export? Retina iMac (4K display, 1TB SSD, 16GB RAM) OS X 10.11.6 Capture One 10. Are there any differences in what or how the Persona functions compared to File > Export? As you, I don't use the Export Persona. One of the moderators said that it was really for slices and, since I don't do that, I have not really used it. It begs the question as to whether or not the problem exists with File -> Export as well.

billtils
The settings in your thumbnail in post #8 will give the best quality JPEG export. Mystic Shadow 1 Retina iMac (4K display, 1TB SSD, 16GB RAM) OS X 10.11.6 Capture One 10.

I don't understand :( There is no reason why the colors are different?
billtils
Are your png files exports or screen captures? Can we go back to basics for a moment and could you develop the original .cr2 in AP once more and export as a jpeg with the settings shown in your post above, and also export it as a .png using the highest quality settings, do the three images (the .cr2, the ,jpg, and the .png) look different? Retina iMac (4K display, 1TB SSD, 16GB RAM) OS X 10.11.6 Capture One 10.

I try again. I see that the colors change already in develop persona. I don't touch any setting. The photo is shooted with a Canon 5D Mark III. But if I open the picture with preview on mac or in pixelmator, the colors are a bit different (the skin is more pink and not white). I don't know if you can see the difference in these images. billtils
The two images from AP look identical to me; and I agree with what you say about the difference in the pixelmator one. However, the colour profile in the AP ones is sRGB IEC61966-2.1 but the pixelmator one is Adobe RGB (1998), which probably explains the differences in what you are seeing. The .cr2 file is Adobe RGB (1998) but AP doesn't read this profile. I try to modify in develop persona in output (because the menu camera profile is not available) but the result doesn't change. It is very strange for me.
billtils
Those are the profiles in the EXIF data for your three posted pics. Retina iMac (4K display, 1TB SSD, 16GB RAM) OS X 10.11.6 Capture One 10.
Mystic Shadow
Those are the profiles in the EXIF data for your three posted pics. Yes. Thanks. I get it. I see the info in the original cr2 file and I see the color profile Adobe(1998). :) The last thing: this is due to the software AP or the setting I used? I'm sorry but i really don't understand why there is a difference among softwares. Thanks
billtils
I'm sorry Mystic Shadow, but I do not have a Canon so cannot help there, other than to suggest that you perhaps Pixelmator has changed the profile of the imported image to Adobe RGB (you can check and change by opening an image in Pixelmator and then Image > Color profile.
