Eagle Works Posted June 14, 2020 Posted June 14, 2020 Hello I am trying the 90 day trial of Affinity Designer I am an Inkscape user checking out Designer. Lost my toolbars and no panels are showing. I can't figure out where/how to get them to show up. I would think it should be in View or Windows menu, but not seeing it. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks Bob Quote Bob Windows 10 Affinity Designer: 1.8.5.703
Eagle Works Posted June 14, 2020 Author Posted June 14, 2020 I was able to get the toolbar on top and the left to show. How do I get the panels (color wheels, layers, for example) to show up? Thanks Bob Quote Bob Windows 10 Affinity Designer: 1.8.5.703
Eagle Works Posted June 14, 2020 Author Posted June 14, 2020 I'm sorry. I was too hasty in posting a question. I have been looking at Help, Youtube tutorials, etc. I am starting to get a feel for the Studio panels. I really use shortcuts a lot. Is there a way to set a shortcut to the Studio command in the View Menu? I'll figure this stuff out! Thanks for checking in. Bob Quote Bob Windows 10 Affinity Designer: 1.8.5.703
walt.farrell Posted June 14, 2020 Posted June 14, 2020 Welcome to the Serif Affinity forums. It sounds like you probably hid the entire UI, by pressing Tab or using View > Toggle UI. If so, you would just press Tab or use the View menu again. You can set shortcuts for individual Studio panels, or for anything contained in the View > Studio menu (such as Hide Studio, or Show Left/Right Studio) but not for the View > Studio menu itself. Just go to Preferences, Keyboard Shortcuts, and select the View menu. malahide Posted June 15, 2020 Posted June 15, 2020 Designer - I cannot get layers panel on screen. I have gone into ' layers' tab at top of screen and hit show all and also toggled Ul bot to no avail. Any suggestions? Quote
Staff DWright Posted July 2, 2020 Staff Posted July 2, 2020 You can restore all of the studios back to default by using View > Studio > Reset Studio Quote
MPrimeX Posted May 9, 2021 Posted May 9, 2021 I was able to get my layers, color, swatches toolbars back by going to View > Studio > Hide Studio (uncheck) Quote
Nightstalker Posted January 31, 2023 Posted January 31, 2023 As of 2023, it is now under WINDOW > STUDIO > Hide Studio, or Shift + H ( which is most likely how it was hidden in the first place ) Quote
Tim Moerman Posted October 22, 2023 Posted October 22, 2023 My toolbar has vanished and I can't get it back. "Show toolbar" is clicked on. I have tried restarting the computer. I have downloaded the latest update (I'm on iOS, Big Sur 10.4) This has happened a lot, but the new wrinkle is that all that remains of the toolbar (i.e. the settings bar, where you would e.g. tell it contiguous or no for the magic wand) is itself devoid of any controls. The screenshot below shows my entire screen with Affinity on--note the nearly-blank dark gray box where the tool settings would ordinarily be. And, more importantly, the actual toolbar is completely gone. Editorial comment: People were commenting about this happening six years ago. FFS. FFS, people. FFS!!!!! I have one day away from my ongoing grind to work on my art and I can't do it because of this long-standing bug. Quote

The toolbar is STILL GONE. Quote
walt.farrell Posted October 22, 2023 Posted October 22, 2023 Do you ever use a second monitor, @Tim Moerman? If so, do you have it plugged-in and turned on now? Have you tried pressing Tab? Have you tried Window > Studio > and then turning off Hide Studio?
