Dai777
I've been copying a menu from a local take away. Made a fairly accurate copy using different images. My problem (not really a problem) is I want to create the menu item on the left and the price on the right in the same text box. At the moment it's in two text boxes. Also is there a way to use a dot leader in between the menu item and the price. I did it by holding down the full stop key but, can it be done using the ruler and tabs? It doesn't work for me when I use the dot leader nothing happens. I followed (Moving from In-design to Affinity Publisher with Mike Rankin) https://youtu.be/vhXC2gpex6w?t=1400 This did not work for me on a text box. The insert leader did not work for some reason unknown to me. Any help would be appreciated. GarryP
Have a look at my attached document. In particular, look at the Tab Stops settings for the “Menu Items” Text Paragraph Style. tab-stops-for-menu.afdesign

Just tried the leader dot part and it works easily on your file, I would look at the video again and take it slow, I would also listen to the style feature mentioned and how he has applied text styles and then updated them to apply the update to all the TOC items, so in your case you could create a style called Menu item Quote iMac 27" 2019 Somona 14.4.1, iMac 27" Affinity Designer, Photo & Publisher V1 & V2, Adobe, Inkscape, Vectorstyler, Blender, C4D, Sketchup + more... Dai777
I can see what you've done but for the life of me I can not recreate it. Could you explain the steps you took. Not that I'm thick but nothing is happening when I do it!

firstdefence
This is easier than I thought, it can comprise a simple text style called Menu item and a two tab option see attached modified document. Tri-Fold_Menu modified.afpub I have duplicated the Side dishes menu and created a text style called Menu item that I have applied to the paragraph. Just a noticed a couple of typos “vegatable” (vegetable) and “pompadoms” (poppadoms) unless these are Indian English in which case ignore me. Dai777
@firstdefence I tried it and nothing. Not sure what step I'm missing out or what I'm doing wrong If I am doing something wrong! It's just not working when I do it.
firstdefence
Where the cursor is just in front of the word Rice, press the tab key and it should jump to the next tab and leave a trail of dots, if not I’ll make a short video of what I did, it might not be pretty but might help lol! Glad you got it working though nice finish to the weekend. As a side note, you could reduce the clutter a bit by converting the red circles to text frames: Layer > Convert to text frame and Paste the text into it and set the alignment to centre vertically, will look neater. I also think The drinks section could be neater, I did it this way… What do you think? This was set up in the same way as the menu items but with more tab stops and two styles a Paragraph Drinks style for the Cans dots and price and then a Drinks Option Character style for the drinks options. So these are the tab stops I used. The drinks option text size was 10pt the cans was as set @ 12pt Quote iMac 27" 2019 Somona 14.4.1, iMac 27" Affinity Designer, Photo & Publisher V1 & V2, Adobe, Inkscape, Vectorstyler, Blender, C4D, Sketchup + more... Dai777
Implemented those suggestions. Very helpful cheers. Did this menu about 12 months ago. After watching the video thought I'd see if I could tidy it up a bit. With your help I have. Thanks Dai
