"Initial Words" bug

Hi,

There is a bug in Paragraph Text Styles under "Initial Words".

For example, if the sentence is "J. F. Kennedy was an American president...", only "J." will be formated, regardless of the number you entered in "Initial Words".

The dot is an end mark and there are two dots. If you reduce max words to 2 and leave out the dot as end mark, J. F. will be formatted. But this is more trial and error.

Edit: Forgot to ask. What do want to have to be formatted in the sentence?

2. I want a certain number of words (mo than 2) to be formated as small caps or italic, or....

So leaving out the dot should work?!? Like below with 6 words.

Of course. Why not?

Lost in translation. Didn't you say it is a bug? Removing the dot from the end mark makes it work. So where is the bug?

It should work even with full stops. They must not limit the words formated with punctuation signs.

If you have full stops as an end character, it will stop at that end character. Why would it make an exception? Remove Full Stops on that Style and it will work as you expect it. 

That image from InDesign is a new Line Style, and not initial words.

Yes, I know. But Adobe does not make any limits. And why should they? And why Affinity puts limits?

That's a feature you can remove I you don't like: 

End characters—specify which characters can be used to automatically end the initial word formatting.

This is from Publisher's help:

"End characters—specify which characters can be used to automatically end the initial word formatting."

As I can understand, if it is empty any number of words can be formated. If you enter any character it will stop when it will find it. So, it does not work correctly, or maybe I don't understand it well.

That's correct. So, in your initial sentence: J. F. Kennedy was an American president , if you set the end character to " . ", it will stop after the first " . " 

Why do you think this does not work correctly?

I was just searching for this post to make a correction. It suddenly start working. At the beggining it doesn't, but now it works. Sorry.
