Colour replacement brush not working

When this brush is selected, the colour painted is only a light purple no matter what brushes or parameters are selected including colour palette?

I really miss @toltec ‘s explanations!   They were so down-to-earth for new users.  Can’t say how many screenshots I made and printed to keep me from tearing my hair out!!

I looked at the referred post and understand it a bit more as well as more experimenting myself. My conclusion is that it doesn't work on all colours, the stronger the colour being changed then the easier it is to change to something else. Also, i started using other types of brushes and adjustment layers so getting more informed.

I wish I knew what has happened to him.  Perhaps he has retired?  Even so, I keep hoping he will come back.  I do hope he is not ill.
