PB1 Posted May 12, 2020 Posted May 12, 2020 I have struck a small problem when working with Photo within a Publisher document, and I have not been able to find a solution. In Publisher, I imported a jpg photo from my desktop, from which I wanted to remove some of its background and change it to a png, by using the Photo Persona, before incorporating it amongst the text in the publisher document. The problem is with the Selection Brush Tool. When I click on it, it appears with 4 white cross hairs surrounding a small circle and when I move it across and click on the photo it produces a Raster Smart Selection with the marching mice. To remove it I have to go to Edit > Remove Raster Smart Selection. I deleted the whole document and restarted again in a new document using a different photo but I got the same result. I have opened Affinity Photo on its own, imported a photo, used the Selection Brush Tool and it works perfectly in accord with what it is supposed to do. I am hoping that someone will be able to offer some advice to correct my problem. 2020-05-08_10-55-45.pdf 2020-05-08_10-56-23.pdf Quote

PB1 Posted May 12, 2020 Author Posted May 12, 2020 That has not worked. Still the same problem. Thanks for your suggestion. Quote
carl123 Posted May 12, 2020 Posted May 12, 2020 Can you upload a full-size screenshot with the tool selected and where you have dragged it across the image to make a selection? PB1 Posted May 12, 2020 Author Posted May 12, 2020 Here is a full size screen shot. I cannot capture the live brush at the same time. Thanks Peter Ā Ā 2020-05-12_17-44-29.pdf Quote
carl123 Posted May 12, 2020 Posted May 12, 2020 At the top-left where it says Width: (currently set to 4px) Change that to 100px, what do you see then when you drag on the image? Staff MEB Posted May 12, 2020 Staff Posted May 12, 2020 HiĀ PB1, Welcome to Affinity Forums Besides increasing the brush size, you should also tick/enable Snap to edges in the context toolbar for it to easily pick the edges of the subject/person being selected rather than simply "painting" a selection no matter the layer content. PB1 Posted May 12, 2020 Author Posted May 12, 2020 Thank you MEB and carl123. Your answers have fixed my problem. 100px was however too large for what I wanted to do, so I reduced it to 50px and it worked perfectly. Regards to you both, Peter Quote
