If you search for "macro wrap" (without the quotes) you will find my macro for wrapping an image around a bottle. This would not work for you as it stands, but probably could be modified to suit. All it might need is a perspective transformation/warp.

I have just tried it out and this does seem to be the case. It could be that the macro was recorded under version 1.7 and is being applied  with version 1.8. I will try and re-create it under 1.8 and see what happens. If it still fails, then I will report it as a bug.
