EleanorJ
Topic. Opening the software. Hello, I just purchased and downloaded Affinity. Not being able to immediately open it, I tried Microsoft Word. NG. My other option was TextEdit. Now I just have gobbelty gook, unreadable. How do I go back. What software should I get in order to proceed with Affinity? John Rostron
@EleanorJ, Welcome to the forums. What application are you using? Photo, Designer or Publisher? What Operating System are you on? How did you try to open it? By clicking on an Affinity icon or clicking on a target file? We need this information to help you. It helps if you give a meaningful Title to your posting (rather than your name). You can change the title by clicking on the Edit link at the bottom of your message and changing the Title to "Opening the software". R C-R
What kind of file are you trying to open? I assume you are a Mac user because you mentioned TextEdit, but regardless of which Affinity app you have purchased, it can only open certain file types. markw
If you are on a Mac and you bought your Affinity app from Serif directly then it will have downloaded from them as a DMG file. To install the app, double click on the DMG file to open it. A window will open showing the applications icon on the left with an arrow pointing to a folder on the right called Applications. To install the app on your system just drag the application’s icon on the left onto the Applications folder icon on the right and your system will take care of the rest. Once installed this window can now be closed. Serif have a very short install guide to both Mac and Windows versions here: https://store.serif.com/en-gb/help/installation-guide/ Quote macOS 12.7.6 | 15" Macbook Pro, 2017 | 4 Core i7 3.1GHz CPU | Radeon Pro 555 2GB GPU + Integrated Intel HD Graphics 630 1.536GB | 16GB RAM | Wacom Intuos4 M
