Guideline Manger show wrong vertical numbers +, Bug?

Recommended Posts

I'm using Designer 1.8.3.641
made a custom landscape page with pixels as document units and added a few artboards

Possible Bug #1
Dimensions on ruler shows 1525x1080px. Dimensions in Document Setup shows 4997,4x1080px

Possible Bug #2
When adding guidelines on artboard #1 numbers on rulers corresponds with numbers in guideline manager. Everything is as expected.
But, when adding guidelines on artboard #2 numbers on rulers are as for artboard #1 and okay, and horizontal guidelines are as expected, but the vertical guideline manger shows totally different numbers;
-1735px is 0px

Do I do something wrong or is it a bug?

Hi cje,
1. Document Setup shows the sum of dimensions of all artboards + gap between them. Ruler dimensions are relative to the artboard selected. This is by design.

2. This is a known issue with document coordinates (already logged to be looked at). With the artboard selected you can go to menu  View > Guides Manager and set the Spread Origin to 0 (zero) to fix it, but if you move the artboards you may end up getting wrong/negative values again in the Guide Manager.

Okay, thank you for you feedback.

I would question if that is the best and most intuitive set up..

2. FYI: spread origin was already set to 0/0. Re-typing didn't make any change. So, maybe a bug.

Hi cje,
In Affinity Designer artboards are NOT independent canvas/entities as in other apps - they are a special type of object/layer that belongs to the document and can be manipulated similarly (with a few exceptions) to other objects (for example you can convert between artboard and objects and vice versa, use Power Duplicate to create grids of artboards etc) and are listed as such in the Layers panel stack. If you need to export artboards individually you can do so in the Export dialog, setting the Area dropdown to the artboard you want to export or alternatively using the Export Persona (which creates a slice for each artboard automatically).

2. This may depend on the artboard's relative positions on canvas and as said is related with document/artboards coordinates. It's a know issue/bug that's being looked at.

We have made fixes/improvements to this area (guides/coordinate system broken) of the program in the latest release.

The fixes and how to update are described in these forum posts.

We would appreciate you checking that this issue has now been resolved for you.
