Frozen Death Knight Posted April 9, 2020 Posted April 9, 2020 This isn't so much a problem per say, but simple curiosity. Are the Publisher Personas of Photo and Designer running on the latest patches done to Affinity Photo and Affinity Designer, or is every improvement patched into Publisher separately? For instance, if you add a new featue or make a bug fix to Photo, will the Persona version in Publisher automatically get that patch without the need for a Publisher patch? ^^ Quote
walt.farrell Posted April 9, 2020 Posted April 9, 2020 They are separate applications, @Frozen Death Knight. Updates to Photo or Designer do not automatically carry over into the Personas in Publisher. markw Posted April 9, 2020 Posted April 9, 2020 An interesting question? My understanding is that the StudioLink personas only allow limited access from Publisher to some areas/tools found in the actual Photo and Designer apps. If one of these apps aren’t installed then the respective persona will not work. If this is true then it would seem likely to me that any bug fix to an area/tool in Photo or Designer that can be accessed via StudioLink will be in effect "fixed" in Publisher also. Publisher contains all the code, and in fact some of the functions in the Photo and Designer applications that are included in the Publisher Personas work differently in Publisher than in the standalone applications. You must have the standalong applications installed to activate the Personas, but the code is separate, and fixes may appear in Photo or Designer before they appear in the Publisher Personas. And in theory (though I'm not sure it has happened) a fix could appear in a Publisher Persona before appearing in the associated standalone application. (This is primarily relevant to the betas, at this point, as the retail applications have generally been released simultaneously.)
