Eva_Anna Posted April 7, 2020 Posted April 7, 2020 Hi, I have a logo in eps format (to be precise: it is the German EU Organic Logo with "BIO" in it) with some white inbetween (the letters and the circle), that needs to be removed for printing. I really tried to find tutorials for this, but I only found how to remove the background (already done, but there is still white background inbetween) or tipps ment for Affinity Photo - but I use Affinity Designer and actually thought this would be the program for this. So my question is - can I remove the white background in my logos in Affinity Designer? If so where can I find a short tutorial for that? 🙂 Sorry for this probably simple question, I am just starting to get these "smaller" design things done myself, but it is very frustrating right now cause my search never got me anywhere helpful. thanks, Eva Quote
GarryP Posted April 7, 2020 Posted April 7, 2020 Welcome to the forums. The best procedure may depend on how the EPS was created and, more specifically, where the white areas are and how they got there. Would you be able to upload the file so we can have a look? If not, would you be able to describe it in more detail? Quote
Eva_Anna Posted April 12, 2020 Author Posted April 12, 2020 Of course, attached the the logos. These are now just jpgs/png, but I have the original eps too of course. Thanks! Quote

It would be better if we had the .eps files. Eva_Anna Posted April 12, 2020 Author Posted April 12, 2020 here they are! EU_Organic_Logo_OneColour_Dark_OuterLine_54x36mm.eps sw_strich.eps Quote
v_kyr Posted April 12, 2020 Posted April 12, 2020 For AD it's similar to remove white document backgrounds, "Datei -> Dokumenteneinstellung -> Farbe -> [x] Transparenter Hintergrund" ... 2020-04-12_18-45-29.mp4 Quote ☛ Affinity Designer 1.10.8 ◆ Affinity Photo 1.10.8 ◆ Affinity Publisher 1.10.8 ◆ OSX El Capitan ☛ Affinity V2.3 apps ◆ MacOS Sonoma 14.2 ◆ iPad OS 17.2
walt.farrell Posted April 12, 2020 Posted April 12, 2020 For the EU Logo file, setting Transparent Background works nicely. But the sw-strich file actually has white within the logo, so that one needs a different approach. (And that's why I wanted to see the actual .eps files; thanks for supplying them ). Someone else may come up with an answer for that file before I do... But to start, expand the (Layer) layer in the Layers panel and turn off the visibility of the bottom layer (the white hexagon). And to finish, select the "i" curve layer in the Layers panel, and with the Move Tool, click the white Fill in the Context Toolbar, and remove it: Quote -- Walt Designer, Photo, and Publisher V1 and V2 at latest retail and beta releases PC: Desktop: Windows 11 Pro 23H2, 64GB memory, AMD Ryzen 9 5900 12-Core @ 3.00 GHz, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3090 Laptop: Windows 11 Pro 23H2, 32GB memory, Intel Core i7-10750H @ 2.60GHz, Intel UHD Graphics Comet Lake GT2 and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 Laptop GPU. Wosven Posted April 12, 2020 Posted April 12, 2020 For the other logo you only need to hide the white parts: Quote
Eva_Anna Posted April 12, 2020 Author Posted April 12, 2020 oh wow thanks for the quick answers! found everything you described and screenshotted and already saved it with transparency as png 🙂 thank you. Didn't expect it to be so easy. Eva Quote
