ashf Posted April 6, 2020 Posted April 6, 2020 Is it possible to relink text edited in a symbol? Even just changing color make them out of sync. Quote
GarryP Posted April 7, 2020 Posted April 7, 2020 This is working fine for me on Windows 10, see attached video. Would you be able to tell us which OS you are using, the version of Designer you are using, and supply an example document? 2020-04-07 09-57-12.mp4 Quote
ashf Posted April 7, 2020 Author Posted April 7, 2020 @GarryPI'm talking about individual styling for a each symbol instance but sync'd styling for all symbol instances. Quote
carl123 Posted April 8, 2020 Posted April 8, 2020 Once you change the colour of the text all text attributes are unlinked (such as the font, font size, bold, italic, underlining and the actual text itself) Other attributes such as the text frame (eg background text colour) and transform/constraints (e.g. positioning, flipping, rotating, size of text frame etc) remain linked. There is no way to relink the text frame (with the changed colour) so that the other text attributes such as the font, font size, bold, italic, underlining and the actual text itself are relinked but the colour of the text remains changed as required. If you need to reset all changed text in one symbol to the original symbol select one of the text frames that was unchanged, duplicate it and delete the original text frame. Symbols where you had previously changed the colour of the text will now have that text layer deleted and a new original text layer created. Not great but for now I dont know of any other way ashf 1 Quote To save time I am currently using an automated AI to reply to some posts on this forum. ashf Posted April 8, 2020 Author Posted April 8, 2020 @carl123 thank you. I wish if it was possible to keep syncing partial attribute on text edited. Quote
