stranded Posted March 27, 2020 Posted March 27, 2020 Hey guys, how can I make eraser look better in this kind of example? https://i.imgur.com/CLj9bqd.mp4 The edge always looks messed up, doesn't matter if I change Opacity, Flow or Hardness. Any tips on how to make it work just like in Photoshop? Quote
Staff MEB Posted March 27, 2020 Staff Posted March 27, 2020 Hi stranded, Welcome to Affinity Forums Are you referring to the "posterise" effect (banding) on the brush edges? Photoshop applies dithering while we don't. There's already an improvement request filled for this but i have no idea when or if it will be implemented. Meanwhile, changing the document colour format to 16 bit may help a little (menu Document > Convert Format / ICC Profile, first dropdown). Quote A Guide to Learning Affinity Software
stranded Posted March 27, 2020 Author Posted March 27, 2020 Ohh that's a shame. For now I just brused that part over with the same tone of blue and it looks OK but during the export it actually does not: In software: After JPG export 96% quality: Quote
stranded Posted March 27, 2020 Author Posted March 27, 2020 Is there any other alternative method on how to erase backgrounds like that in Affinity Photo? @MEB Quote
firstdefence Posted March 27, 2020 Posted March 27, 2020 It would be easier to select the woman, refine the selection and then copy and paste her to a new layer and then add whatever background you wanted. stranded Posted March 28, 2020 Author Posted March 28, 2020 Yeah that's time consuming to make it right, how about fading out between two layers? How can I do that? Here's how it works in Photoshop, just with one easy move: https://imgur.com/aJ0Gl7h Quote
