RahelG Posted March 24, 2020 Posted March 24, 2020 Hi there I already checked the forum for an information but was not able to find a solution. We experienced several problems by reducing an original photo from the size 3744 x 5616 to the pixel size 420x375. By doing the exact same on Affinity and on Photoshop, the quality of the photo on Photoshop turns out to be much better than on Affinity, where it is blurry. How is this possible? Do you have a solution or a workaround for this problem? Many thanks Quote
John Rostron Posted March 24, 2020 Posted March 24, 2020 How did you reduce the size of the image? Was it Document > Resize? Which resizing algorithm did you use? Was it Nearest Neighbour? Bicubic? Lanczos? Which algorithm did you use in Photoshop? Reducing from 3744 x 5616 to pixel size 420x375, you would expect a significant loss of quality. kaffeeundsalz Posted March 24, 2020 Posted March 24, 2020 Also, 3744:5616 is a completely different aspect ratio than 420:375. In fact, even the orientation is different. You'd expect heavy distortion to occur if you do this transformation solely with resizing. John Rostron 1 Quote
Ray S. Posted March 24, 2020 Posted March 24, 2020 I've experimentend a little, a 3753 x 5634 photo reduced to 279 x 420 with the lanczos 3 separable algorithm give a decent result. To make it even more crispy I added a highpass-filter with radius 1 and factor 0,5. I don't have PS to compare but the result from Photo is absolutly ok for me. John Rostron 1 Quote
