Crashs since 1.8 update

Recommended Posts

I wrote under a different topic some days ago reporting problems with Affinity Photo. But sorry but this is bullshit. The 1.8 Update was released on February 26 and since then a lot of people have problems with Affinity Photo which also got reported. Why is there still no update for the known problems? My Affinity Photo is literally not usable as it crashes like every 2-5 mins. Serif wants to sell Affinity Photo etc as professional software but how should professionals work with software which crashes all the time? Just imagine making your living depending on this and you are not able to work with Affinity Photo for two weeks...

There have been at least two beta releases that have addressed a number of reported issues. Clearly, affinity do not want to put out a just partial fix for the wider community. You could perhaps apply to join the public beta test ing and contribute to toward a solution.....

M1 IPad Air 10.9/256GB   lpadOS 17.1.1 Apple Pencil (2nd gen).
Affinity Photo 1.10.5 Affinity Design 1.10.5
Affinity Publisher 2, Affinity Designer 2, Affinity Photo 2 and betas.

  • 2 weeks later...

I have this happening to me as well. Very frequent crashes, about once every 10 to 15 minutes. There does not seem to be a specific trigger or cause, seems random. The best I can say is that it seems to happen more frequently when pinching to zoom, or undoing. But that might just be because that's my most frequent actions?

This is an iPad Pro 9.7" (2016) with iPadOS 13.3 (13.4 was released today, maybe that will help, but I doubt). On another topic I've seen that Photo was stability issues on devices with 3 GB of RAM, this iPad Pro has 2 GB of RAM. That might be the cause.

Devs/QA let me know if there's any other info you need. Thanks!
