Affinity Photo and Affinity Designer not updating to 1.8

Recommended Posts

Hi:

I'm running Affinity Photo and Affinity Designer on my iMac 27" 5K running Mac OS 10.12.6 and on my MacBook Pro 15" Retina running the same OS.  Both software packages updated on my MackBook Pro but neither has updated on my iMac. I've gone several times to the MacStore App and there's no notice to update.  Any idea why?

What does it say? I had a similar issue, but going to the product page it said "Install" and selecting that allowed me to update.

It says “Buy App”, as if I didn't have it on my computer. The same thing happens with Designer.  Weird!  Check out the scree capture.

Have you checked the login information for the App Store to ensure that you're logged in with the same ID on both systems. Your symptoms really sound like the two computers are running with different IDs.

On the one where it's failing, have you tried explicitly logging out of the Store, and logging back in?

(Also, when you say you turn your computer off each evening, do you really mean that actually tell MacOS to do a shutdown? Or do you just turn off the power, which may merely put it into a Sleep mode. If that's the case, then Delanson's suggestion of doing a Restart may be relevant.)

I've been having exactly the same issue and after reading this found another way to solve it.

It appears that the App Store didn't recognise that Photo or Designer were installed (They both were)

I went to purchased Tab on the AppStore and noticed that next to Photo and Designer it was showing an INSTALL button.

I clicked the install button, App Store did its thing and the latest version was installed.
