Duncanwh Posted February 18, 2020 Posted February 18, 2020 I tried out the beta Publisher on a copy of a 300 page book. Good news and bad news. When the file opened, the text flow was messed up with lots of extra space added throughout the book, turning 300 pages into nearly 400. This extra space could not be deleted; it just moved around. The good news is that it is now very quick to add new text, whether early on, or in the middle or at the end of the book. There was no problem with a large format Blurb book containing 150 images and text.
Staff Patrick Connor Posted February 18, 2020 Staff Posted February 18, 2020 @Duncanwh Thanks. I have split your post into a new thread, as the beta announcement post should only really contain discussion of the fix-list and reports of problems installing or running the beta. If we gave you a secure upload link are you able to provide a copy of the file to see what is going on? Staff Patrick Connor Posted February 18, 2020 Staff Posted February 18, 2020 I think it is likely that one or more of your text styles was not previously doing the right thing, and now that has been addressed the effect is to reflow your document in a corrected but unexpected way. Staff Jon P Posted February 19, 2020 Staff Posted February 19, 2020 Hi @Duncanwh, The main reason this is now happening is Keep with next x lines combined with the Prevent orphaned/widowed first/last lines on the Default 1 style which is applied to most of the body text in the file you have sent us. If you have a lot of 1-line paragraphs, Keep with next will tend to move them all to the next frame to keep them together. Widow and Orphan control will mean that paragraphs with 2 or 3 lines can move too. If you tweak these it will behave as expected, we wouldn't really be expecting someone to be applying styles like this to the whole body text in a document, is there a reason for this?
