Muscolino Posted January 6, 2020 Posted January 6, 2020 I'm not sure if I'm importing incorrectly or if this is a bug. When opening layered PDFs created in GIS software, text boxes contain odd spaces that are not corrected with any text alignment setting. The red circles in the attached images illustrate the spaces in center and left aligned setting. Note the relation of the text to the text box boundary. Quote
Staff Sean P Posted January 8, 2020 Staff Posted January 8, 2020 Hi anthony.t, It looks as though there is padding be added to the imported text frames. Would you be able to attach a copy of the PDF you are importing please so we can investigate? Thanks Quote
Muscolino Posted January 10, 2020 Author Posted January 10, 2020 Sure thing. This is not the exact same graphics as my original post but same export/import process and same text issue in the footer. Map 1.pdf Quote
Staff Sean P Posted January 13, 2020 Staff Posted January 13, 2020 Thanks for the PDF. This isn't a bug, but is just how Affinity is trying to best align the text so it matches the look of the PDF. Because of this it is applying First Line Indents on the text object which means the first line of a paragraph gets indented. This can be fixed by selecting the Paragraph (or the entire text) and go to the Paragraph Panel and set First Line Indent and Line Indent to 0pt. This will remove the gap and allow you to align the text without a problem. Quote

With the supplied PDF, the option changed whether one of the paragraphs has indents specified (with favor fidelity) or whether it comes in as centered text (favor editability). Muscolino Posted January 13, 2020 Author Posted January 13, 2020 Both solutions work on my end. I thought I tried the Favor Editable Text route previously but without resolve. It seems to be working now. Thanks Sean and Walt for saving me these extra steps on a very repetitive task! Quote
