ColinSmi Posted December 19, 2019 Posted December 19, 2019 I just cant seem to be able to work how to do it? I am working with black and white photos and images. The images are mainly of lists of genealogical information. I wish to highlite some of the persons shown by placing a small red star alongside their name to show them up. I just cannot fathom any way to be able to do it. I have tried by selecting the star and opening New Adjustment Layer and trying to use the Gradient Map, but the colour slider is only in B & W. Can anyone help please? Quote
GarryP Posted December 19, 2019 Posted December 19, 2019 I’m having difficulty understanding exactly what you are trying to do. For example, what are you trying to colour? If you are placing a red star shape on the image then it’s already red and shouldn’t need recolouring. Can you give more information please? (With a visual sample if possible.) Quote
Roger C Posted December 19, 2019 Posted December 19, 2019 Hi Check if the file you're working on (your document) is greyscale or colour. To do this go to the Document menu and select Convert Format / ICC Profile. In the Convert box that opens up, click Format. Choose a profile from the list in the dialog; in your case try RGB/8. Click Convert. Your file can now show colours. Does this help? Dan C 1 Quote Affinity Designer & Photo : Win 10
ColinSmi Posted December 19, 2019 Author Posted December 19, 2019 Many thanks for that Roger, it worked a treat. Thanks also Garry. I was trying to place a coloured star on a black and white photo but it did not work until I selected DOCUMENT and from the dropdown the CONVERT. Regards Colin Quote
