The title say it all - this simply does not work on my PC - is it a MAC only feature? Or is it turned off somewhere - either through my own ham fisted stupidity or something else?

Hi @Howard Worf,

try the following
for width, press right and left mouse button + ALT (left/right)
for hardness, press right and left mouse button + ALT (up/down)

⌥ is the symbol Apple uses for the alt/option key.
