Hi Andrew Wood,

Welcome to the forums :)

There are many ways of achieving this in Affinity and the method will change depending on the type of object/image/layer you're looking to border, and the type of border you're looking for.

Could you please confirm, what are you looking to border? An image, an object, a layer?

Please note -

I am currently out of the office for a short while whilst recovering from surgery (nothing serious!), therefore will not be available on the Forums during this time.

Should you require a response from the team in a thread I have previously replied in - please Create a New Thread and our team will be sure to reply as soon as possible.

Many thanks!

Please excuse my ignorance but i've never used a forum before! Thanks for your speedy reply. In answer to your question I have an image, typically 5*7 ratio and then I want to put a thin white border around. The proportion of the border will be about 1%. ie if the photo width is 10 inches I'd like a border about 1/10 inch.

Thanks.

  1. Select the rectangle tool
  2. Draw out a rectangle the size of the image
  3. On the rectangle context menu just above the workspace, remove the fill colour by clicking on fill colour block and selecting the no fill icon, see image below.

  4. Now click on the stroke parameters (the long grey line with the red diagonal line through it and select a stroke thickness and align to the inside. You can set the colour of the stroke with the colour block just at the side of the word stroke:

You should have a coloured border like this
