I've tried to load a couple different brush sets and get the error message that the files is not supported. I was able to drag and drop the same brush sets into Pixelmator and they worked fine. Am i doing something wrong? I followed the instructions in the help file to no avail.

Hi there, here i am again with another question... I´m trying to import a work i´ve done with Corel Draw into the AD. The only way i though i could do it was by creating a Pdf or even a Postscript file. The fact is that i can import them into my art board, but i´m not able to edit it. Is the a way i can access individually each object within the file?

Hello, I’ve searched through existing posts (see short list below) but it’s not clearly stated if those requests have been added to the development list or out of consideration. (They don’t appear to be reflected in the roadmap unless I’m missing a reference.) Is it possible to get clarification as to whether Affinity has plans to support: Ability to import Photoshop and Illustrator 'Preset' files / styles: Most Important:Gradients: .grd file extension Styles: .asl file extension Patterns: .pat file extensionIncluding preset pattern fills (related post by someone else is referenced below) Moderately important but could live without:Color Swatches: .aco file extension Custom Shapes: .csh file extension I have a huge library of the above (gradients, styles, and patterns in particular) that I'd rather not lose (or have to recreate) by switching to Affinity Designer. Somewhat-related forum posts: Import .ase and .aco files: https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/topic/1483-import-palette…-importing-ase-and-aco-files/ Import Photoshop and vector brushes: https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/topic/532-import-photoshop-and-vector-brushes/ Vector pattern fills, custom vector brushes, dotted lines: https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/topic/1913-vector-pattern-fills-custom-vector-brushes-dotted-lines/ (This one in particular, it’s stated that vector pattern fills are not yet in the roadmap; does that mean that it’s out of consideration, or just that it’s not coming in the near future?) Thank you for any clarification you can provide. Regards, --S

Hi, I am working a lot with eps files. I noticed that if I import an eps file, the fonts are all converted into vectors. Would it be possible to fix this, that entire text parts can still be used as text and not as single vectors? This problems only seems to appear in in the eps files, because in the pdf or ai files the text is read in as text. Thank you very much already and keep up your great work :)

When I import swatches using the “Import Palette…” item, I should be able to select palettes saved from Photoshop (ACO – Adobe Photoshop Color Swatch File) or Illustrator (ASE – Adobe Swatch Exchange File). Are there foreign palette formats that AD can import? Maybe that information should be in the Open dialog box… or somewhere. (The Help Center doesn’t seem to do anything. I can search for a topic like “palette,” but can’t expand the results, so maybe the AD entries are just stubs?)

This may be a problem you can't solve - but I have thousands of Xara files that I will have to convert to some other format to import into Affinity, or I'll have to keep Xara for a while. I have been using that software since 1995 and would love to simply be able to import their files into Affinity. I have only continued to use Xara because until now, there has been no MAC program that could compare to the speed and versatility of that software. So if we could get the ability to import the XAR formatted file, or if you included an algorithm to convert it to PSD or whatever on import - that would be awesome and I (and many others) could get rid of Parallels off of our MAC's, dump Windows and regain valuable drive space. I can't begin to tell you how cool that would be as I do not have time to take almost 20 years worth of files and convert them all to another format for import

Please add the ability to import CDR files. Lately, clients have started mentioning that they would like to move away from CorelDraw. You might be surprised how many Mac users are using CorelDraw via Bootcamp or Parallels. Now that Serif (Affinity) is supporting the Mac they want to migrate away from CorelDraw. However, they feel trapped with CorelDraw because: They do not want to lose their CDR files created over many years. In addition, they want to avoid exporting hundreds of files out of CorelDraw one at a time so the files could be used elsewhere. Here is an opportunity for Affinity to make friends in the Mac community. Make Affinity products able to perfectly import Adobe and Corel files. Do this and you will have an automatic customer base for a long time.

The website says: Full support for AI, PSD, PDF and SVG files gives you all the flexibility you need and means whether you switch to Affinity Designer for all your work, or just elements of what you do, it's completely painless. but for the love of god, I cannot open a PDF file in the Affinity Designer. Am I doing something wrong? Agatha

A question I have not seen raised yet concerns importing the vast number of DPP files I have made on Serif DrawPlus. Are there plans to enable users to import DPP files from SD without having to open Serif Draw and save the DPPs as SVG files first?
