Why would this be? If one is in full screen mode, and one creates a new document, why wouldn't the newly-created document appear visually on the screen of the computer where the newly-created document was created?
When I exited full screen, I could see 8 untitled documents - my 8 attempts to Create New.
Does apple need to improve things to enable software to show things in full screen mode?
Thank you

Not for me..I upgraded the other day to 1.10.2. Just went into the same document where I’d discovered the bug, and tried again to enter a Custom leading value. Type had been at 24pt leading. I typed 32. The result was 7.7!
To be methodical and scientific, I made a fresh document, a text frame, and into it pasted a bit of lorem ipsum. type was at 13.9 upon pasting - a curious value, imo. I went to leading > custom, typed 32, and the value of 297.4 was returned.
If it would be helpful, I’m happy to take a screen recording of this, then upload the file used to make the recording.

The screen recording above was made using the non beta (retail) version.🙂
well then, that does make it more curious, doesn’t it? I immediately tried the same thing in my non-beta version and did not see the trash can, and was not able to transform a blue guide into it’s red dotted, trashable form.

Perhaps it's an iPadOS 15 issue? There have been others.
I was using the new Designer Beta (1.10.2/1.10.16) when I tried it, but I'm only on iPadOS 14.8. You might try the Beta, which has fixed at least one issue related to iPadOS 15.
Works in the Beta, Walt, as you suspected. I noticed instantly when I made guides (in the beta) the appearance of the trash can on the guides panel. I don’t see the trash can in the non-beta version.
Guess I’ll have to wait for the devs to go fetch the Flit…

I’m trying this right now. made a new document, made a horizontal and a vertical guide. they now appear as blue lines. when I tap and hold on either line, I get none of the options you mention. Guides are visible and unlocked.
Designer 1.10.1, iPad OS 15.02
when I tap and hold with either arrow, I see a blue dot, registering my tap and hold. when I release I get the standard Deselect - Copy - Cut - Paste, but none of these choices affects the guides.
thank you!

Pretty sure you can select a guide line, and just click the bin icon…
not on my iPad, I can’t.

It helps greatly. Thank you, Dan.

My goal was to have 24-pt type in a 300 dpi document which is a print standard.
for the type size to vary according to resolution seems a bit weird to me. I suppose there is a reason for this?
BTW.. I got values like 342pts and 5.8pts, whether I set the resolution to 300 dpi or 72 dpi

so sorry…which is the “Document menu?”Found it.. Made no difference.
🙁

No, that is turned on, as in your screen capture.

the bug happens when I type in my leading value under “Custom.”. I make sure I’m typing over values or clear them out first. no matter what value I type, upon hitting ‘ok,’ designer will actually register and implement a different number…sometimes ridiculously high, sometimes very low..no rhyme to it, seems.
anyone else?
thank you

Edit All Layers is checked.
Thank you

..requiring us to go running to the layers studio? Sometimes you can select an item with the arrow tool..sometimes not. Is there a rhyme or reason to this?
Thank you!

I can select my shape, and change it’s stroke color but I can not apply a gradient to the stroke to save my behind!
if I select the gradient tool, the object becomes de-selected.
can somebody please describe the ABC of applying a gradient to a stroke?
Many thanks!

I want iPad OS Publisher as much as anyone.
Until that great day happens, at least Designer has art boards and can therefore enable one significant piece of a page layout tool.
my sense is that the programmers want to deliver iPad Publisher just as much as we want them to.
It’s hard to be patient because we want to have on iPad arguably the greatest creative workspace in all of computering: Affinity Designer, Photo, and Publisher.
I have no doubt it will happen.

I think your mind is playing tricks on you! Ash Henson announced during an event in the summer of 2019 (i.e. a little over two years ago) that APub for iPad would be released the following year, but then the coronavirus pandemic disrupted the timetable.
This is how I recall it as well.

Is there a way to remove, as in to delete, from a document guides and margins I set, but which I no longer need?
I can see how to hide the guides and the margins, but not how to remove guides and margins, from a document.
Thank you in advance.

I’m referring to the area around the artboards. the only option is blasting white. Ray-Bans country.
Some either like to work in a darker setting, on darker art, and don’t need the blasting white throwing off their sense of light temperature and intensity while working on art.
You need to zoom out; you don’t need zooming out to blast you with white LED light.
Thank you

I have a document loaded with art, all layers on. its thumbnail is a white square.
can I make its thumbnail look like what’s in the document?
Thank you

oh that sounds like a good method..I'll need to try that, Charles
