brad.cannell reacted to Alfred in Designer Noob Question -- how to draw a straight line?
For a line which is perfectly horizontal, vertical or at an angle of 45 degrees, click with the Pen Tool where you want the line to begin and then hold down the Shift key as you click again to define the end point.

I want to draw a series of straight lines.
In other drawing programs you could often hold a key while using a pencil or pen tool and it would always give you a straight line.
Is there a similar concept?

brad.cannell reacted to MEB in Dividing an object into equal parts
I've created a video to reply to another thread that shows this in detail. Just don't straight the edge of the pie chart as i did in the video. You can enter any value you want. I used 20º in this case.

brad.cannell reacted to MEB in Frame Text: How can I format the text frame (background color, border, padding)
Hi Lars,
Welcome to Affinity Forums :)
There's no way to style the text frame itself. The only way to achieve what you want is creating an independent rectangle shape, style it as you see fit and place it below the text object as you already seem to be doing.

brad.cannell reacted to JimmyJack in Distribute vertically or horizontally
We have two distribute options (be careful, Align has had some bugs. I haven't done any testing on the latest beta).
1) We have the layer Dropdown option which with distribute objects equally on their centers.
2) We have the Align tool (shown in post 2) which will distribute objects with an equal distance between their bounding boxes.
You can set a specific distance on this one :) .
