colecandoo reacted to ekweb in Publisher 2.0.3: Data merge, export should create filename with datafields
Hi, I wish Publisher could merge datafields to the filenames when exporting to JPG (or other formats).
Like now I have over 50 individuell "membercards" which will be given as JPG to the clubmembers. The clubmembers keep the memberscard on theyr mobiles.
Each of the membercards should have an individual filename like:
"datafield1"_"datafield2"_2023.jpg = in my usecase: "Max_Mustermann_2023.jpg" if there are two of the same "Max_Mustermann_2023.jpg", Publisher should add a nummber to it, like "Max_Mustermann_2023(1).jpg" and "Max_Mustermann_2023(2).jpg". For me, this would be a very usefull feature of Afinity Publisher. Please consider to add this feature, THANK YOU.
Or is there a possibility to do this right now already?
Thank you
Erwin

colecandoo reacted to anto in Data Merge text in a single text frame
Why we need it:
To create dictionaries, catalogs, when the explanations of different words have different lengths and it is impossible to do this using frames.
A similar function is implemented in Word and is called "Catalog".
How can this be done in Publisher?
Using a text frame for the entire page and a data source, you can merge the data using standard Publisher tools and get N pages of data.
Next, you need to combine all the text frames into one, so that the text flows from one frame to another.
To do this, you can use the Select Object-->Text Frame function. It will select all the text frames in the document.
What do you need to implement?
A button or the ability to link several text frames into one, that is, to allow text to flow across all selected frames.
Empty pages that remain when the text is merged can be deleted.

colecandoo reacted to SirWillibald in Data Merge: Possibility to toggle layer visibility
I don't think this is possible yet (correct me if I'm wrong), but I would love to be able to toggle the visibility of certain layers with the data merge feature.
This is possible in Photoshop, where you could add a boolean type field in your excel sheet with "TRUE" or "FALSE", which was linked to the visibility property of a certain layer. Hope this is understandable.
Would open up some nice possibilities...
