  1. Excellent post, thank you....!!! That video is most helpful, and I'm grasping the content a little better now. Gonna take more study and trial to put the new HSL panel to use, and I'm well on the way. Thanks again...!
  2. I'm at a loss in trying to grasp how the new HSL Color Wheel Nodes affect image colors in the newest Beta. The new Help file states: Using the Channel nodes When adjusting the range of an individual color set, you can: Drag on an individual node to reposition it around the color circle. Drag on the inside or outside of the radial ring near nodes to reposition multiple nodes. Drag on the inside or outside of the radial ring away from nodes to reposition them manually one by one. Unfortunately there are no pictorial examples to view, to help with visualising the effects described by these new instructions. Someone had recommended that I play with the nodes and sliders, which I have done, but I'm just not getting it; just not yet observing what those nodes are about. Can anyone here perhaps expand on the above instructions to help me get it through my thick skull? Many thanks in advance....!! Chaplain Thick-Skull
  3. Yes indeed..... That was the problem, adjustment layer was not selected..... Thanks again, Mark
  4. Ah, that makes perfect sense......will check that and report back. Funny, I never made that mistake prior to the newest beta, I must be getting old.... Thanks again, Mark
  5. Thanks for your reply. I'm not referring to pixel selection, but rather a method of masking the layer in question. Before the new beta, Layer>Invert would apply a mask to the active layer, so that you could paint back in your layer at will. In the new beta, Layer>Invert makes a color negative of the layer by inverting the layer's colors. Not the same function as before. Thanks again, Mark
  6. Clicking "Invert" in the Layer menu inverts the selected layer's colors, making a negative of the layer, instead of masking the layer in preparation for selectively painting the layer back on. Is this a new function for Invert, or is this a bug?
  7. Is there a User Manual available, new and specific to this new Beta? I'm very interested in learning how to work the new HSL filter functions. Thank You, Chaplain Mark
  8. On the top menu bar, go to "Layer", then scroll down to "Duplicate". Then, in the Layers panel, you can now see that you have created a duplicate layer on which/with which to do all the non-destructive editing you may wish. You can repeat this duplicate layer process as many times as you wish. Hope this helps...!!
  9. Cool....Thanks for the explanation. It turns out I just did not process the dates correctly in my feeble brain, when I saw the two postings about the beta and the subsequent full release. Thanks again..!!
  10. Okay, now I see..... The announcement for the Beta is dated March 2, the announcement for the new release is dated March 6.... Me understands now, me thanks you....!!
  11. I am confused about version numbers and beta release. I saw another thread in this forum concerning a new Customer Beta version of Affinity Photo 1.6.4.104, and I had already downloaded and installed what I thought was the newest updated version 1.6.4.104, to which I was alerted from within the program. Then, I stumbled upon this thread about a Customer Beta version of Affinity Photo 1.6.4.104, so now I'm confused. Are beta releases and full update releases named with the same numbers? Any clarification would be great, and thanks in advance...!!
  12. Beautiful..... Love the shallow depth of field, the sharpness and the colors.
  13. lol...... I plan to do exactly that..!! Thanks, Cedge...!!
  14. Hello, I'm Chaplain Mark, a street services Chaplain to the homeless and under-served in Sacramento California. Have been a hobby photographer for decades, but only just a few weeks ago started post-processing my images on the computer. Attempted many times in years past to learn post-processing without success, and I'm so very glad to have stumbled upon Affinity Photo because it really is the only image editing software program which really appeals to me. This past few weeks then, has been a real pleasure of a journey on the photo editing learning curve, and have been achieving real results already, with very little frustration, which is entirely different from my earlier attempts. Very much looking forward to continuing on the learning curve and eventually, paying it forward, here on the forum...!! Thank you, Chaplain Mark 'Tis better to have a camera and not need one, than to need a camera and not have one. -------- In pursuit of photographic excellence.
  15. Very good, Sir....it is true, the tutorial video in question is presented on a Mac.... Thanks again, I very much appreciate it..!! Chaplain Mark
  16. How Awesome...!!! Works perfectly... Thanks so much for helping me with that..!! Is this function something that has been updated then, since the tutorial video was released? Thanks again, Cedge!
  17. Hello, Have been learning Affinity Photo a few weeks now, and really enjoying this software program. Have been studying the Official Affinity Photo Tutorial Videos, and came across a video entitled: Affinity Photo: Modifiers In this video, it was said that holding down the ALT and CTL (Windows) keys simultaneously will allow me to modify the size and/or hardness of the Paint Brush tool by clicking and dragging to suit. I have tried this key combination with clicking and dragging, and the result is not what is stated on the video, in that the paint brush changes to a magnifying glass thru which I can view individual pixels, whose color RGB values appear in an information bar just below the magnifying glass. Letting go of the mouse button reverts the paint brush tool to its default function. When I checked in the preferences menus regarding key modifiers, I have not been able to locate a path to change the above behavior to what is described in the Modifiers tutorial video. Can anyone help me with this? Thanks in advance for your help. Chaplain Mark
Merci, Chaplain Mark
