    Hi @Remi Turcotte,
There's a known issue currently logged with the developers where the adjustment dialog will appear behind the document/image when the image tabs are floated, It sounds like you're running into this bug so i'll bump it with your report.
With 'random' crashes I'd always suggest disabling Hardware Acceleration first under Edit > Preferences > Performance and then restarting the app for it to take effect and monitor if this has any impact as it can cause problems with certain hardware and software configs.
If the crashes still persist we'll need a bit more info, such as if you can recall any steps taken that lead up to the crash along with any recent crash reports, the FAQ linked below details how to find these.
    Many thanks

Well, as I pointed out, that is why any future change in behaviour should only be opt-in via a preference.

Unless I drink too much kool-aid:
An image opened in Affinity, selected in part or entirely, then copied to another image, should not be considered as a changed image, and therefore should be closed when clicking the "X" without having to click on any other UI dialogs.

I would like to use a tool and have it active for all opened documents. It is super annoying that tools are active on a per document basis. E.g. I want to inpaint 30+ images, deadline fast approaching...In one doc the brush is selected, so I draw stuff over my image. In the next document the selection brush is selected with a huge brush size, I don't notice it, I assume it crashed, because nothing is happening. In another document the move tool is active, I move layers around without noticing, because I'm zoomed in, messing up everything I painstakingly put in place.
I usually work in batches, do one task for multiple images, so I have to switch through all open documents first and select the tool I need for the current task, before I can start. This for every thing I do, it is infuriating to do and leads to mistakes in lots of situations.
So please, please, please implement a way that I can select a tool and it stays selected for all open documents.

    OH I to-ta-lly second that!

I often work on a serie of images at the same time, and going through the EXPORT process individually is quite tedious!

Adding to this, bottom line is no matter what dev says, replies, cites, or explains over and over, I can't find one post or comment online praising Affinity Photo alpha channel related features or workflow.
I however, as many other experienced AND HOBBYIST graphic artists, each time  trumped or frustrated when in need of an alpha channel in AP, can easely find writings about users not liking it, and worse, STILL not understand it any better.
just like me, as I just did.

    Once again.

I guess I touched a nerve with this post.
I recently discovered another problem associated with the way alpha channels are handled. If you let AF create the alpha (e.g., drawing a circle on an otherwise empty canvas with a transparent background), the empty space remains empty in AF, but not necessarily when you save as TIFF and open in another app. I noticed this when I was making light-colored buttons with rounded edges. When I placed the light-colored buttons on a light-colored background the buttons had a black border. They were not antialiasing correctly with their background, and I've not been able to eliminate that dark edge completely. In Photoshop this was never an issue because I always made the edges of the button graphic match the background the buttons would be on, so they always had nice-looking edges and blended seamlessly.

+1 here - Yes, a proper vector Eraser and vector cutting tools are severely needed.

    also
    - trace bitmap to vector, obviously
    - an optimize slider to reduce the number of points in a vector shape
    - a lasso selection tool to select nodes in a vector shape... a sole box/rectangle selection tool is SO 1985 !!!!!
